Ok so with AppDelete Version 4 being the future of AppDelete, there really haven't been too many Version 3 updates. Today I am releasing one which is basically a bug-fix release. If you are already using Version 4 you need to do nothing. If you are still using Version 3 please do update. If you are confused you need at least Lion to run Version 4, anything older you cannot update. The built-in updater should also recognize this and only offer you to update if your OS can handle it. Today I am releasing AppDelete Version 4.0.3 with a feature that has been requested by a number of users, the ability to hide the Menu Bar icon when running in Hidden mode. With the release of Version 4 I do believe that Hidden mode has been made more user-friendly for most users, but there are some that prefer the way it worked in Version 3 and basically this new preference allows this. A relatively minor update to AppDelete is being released today, Version 4.0.2. This version fixes a few bugs that should hold users over until I release a few of the bigger things that I am working on. :-) One of them being the Super-Hidden mode that many users are requesting without the menubar icon the way it was in Version 3. I really appreciate the great feedback I've been receiving about AppDelete Version 4. It's definitely the best AppDelete ever! Just an update to let everyone know that AppDelete, AppDelete Lite, and VidConvert are all compatible with Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. The site has been updated today to reflect this, even though they have actually been compatible for some time. The only one that's not compatible is the older AppDelete Version 2 and if you are still using it now I would suggest the Upgrade for 50% off which can be found at the bottom of the main AppDelete page. VidConvert is now available in the Mac App Store! There was a delay in getting VidConvert into the App Store as it's been available here on my site for quite some time, but once again now it's there. I'm very excited about this and being able to reach a larger audience. Now for those that know App Store apps can sometimes have limitations the changes to VidConvert are minimal. Basically you cannot convert from .vob, and the Save to Source folder option has been removed. On the plus side for users you will not have to manually install a Conversion Engine (FFmpeg) upon first launch, although you can still update it on your own. It's even sandboxed. And finally it's on sale for 50% off for a limited time! So enough said go check it out in the Mac App Store! :-)

There were a few reports of trash monitoring being triggered by auto-updates and there is a fix in Version 3.2.6 to address this issue. Although it's always possible that the occasional auto-update slips through, in general they should be ignored and you should see better results with this latest release. And just a reminder, for those occasional updates that might slip through just click on Cancel and they will be ignored. Version 3.2.6 is now available and a recommended update for all users.

VidConvert Version 1.2.2 is being released today and it contains a couple of bug fixes when using the deinterlace option and when entering values into the Advanced panel. If you've been having any issues and even if not you should update at your earliest convenience. VidConvert Version 1.2.2 is also now signed with an Apple Developer ID. This won't mean much to most of you right now, but when 10.8 Mountain Lion comes out there will be a new security feature called Gatekeeper which will warn you if an app is not from a trusted developer. The app also will not be able to launch depending on your settings. Since there are plenty of apps that are not able to be sold via the App Store due to strict guidelines of what is/is not allowed, apps being sold outside of the App Store will continue to thrive. But not being signed with a Developer ID will create a problem for these developers (like myself) so I have chosen to get this out of the way early. :-) You can read more about Gatekeeper on Apple's site, and of course more about VidConvert on my own. I'm excited to announce AppDelete Lite Version 3.2.2 today! There has always been a challenge to make a version of AppDelete that is allowed in the Mac App Store and at the same time useful for the user. But I think I finally got it! AppDelete Lite will now move files that do not require an administrator password to the trash automatically just like AppDelete. Only files that require a password need to be moved manually. And remember AppDelete Lite is only 1/2 the price of AppDelete! So now whether you prefer the full power of AppDelete, or if the App Store is a priority for you there is a version of AppDelete to meet your needs. So AppDelete Version 3.2 was a major update with many new features and improvements that is optimized for Lion and VidConvert Version 1.1 the same. Also, AppDelete Lite was introduced to the Mac App Store for users that are interested in purchasing there. Remember that AppDelete Lite has been modified some to meet the Mac App Store guidelines. Today I am releasing VidConvert Version 1.1! This is the first major update to VidConvert and has a lot of new features and improvements. I have been listening carefully to all of the feedback that has been coming in since VidConvert was initially released and most of the feature requests are included in Version 1.1. I'm pleased to announce today that AppDelete is now available (finally) in the Mac App Store under the name AppDelete Lite! First a quick explanation…the Mac App Store has guidelines that keep certain apps out and this has been the reason why AppDelete (even VidConvert) have not been included. AppDelete Lite is a special version of AppDelete which has been modified a bit to meet the Mac App Store guidelines. The main difference is that AppDelete Lite cannot move the associated items to the trash but instead the user must do it. This is because the Mac App Store will not allow apps that require a password to work. But AppDelete Lite will still find all the files that AppDelete finds at a cheaper price! There are also a few other changes such as no Undo (there is no longer a need) and no Force Empty Trash, for a complete description of AppDelete Lite just visit the AppDelete Lite page here. And to see AppDelete Lite in the Mac App Store click here. Finally, for any questions or feedback just visit the Support page here. Hope everyone is doing well and today I'm pleased to announce AppDelete Version 3.2. AppDelete Version 3.2 is a pretty big update and the first update made specifically for Lion. Not to worry, AppDelete is still compatible with Snow Leopard/Leopard and even for PPC users! AppDelete was first released in 2006 and will be going strong into Lion and beyond. Well it hasn't been long since VidConvert Version 1.0.5 was released, but today I am releasing VidConvert Version 1.0.6. Seems there was a bug in Version 1.0.5 that could cause VidConvert to crash when using the Same folder as source setting and this has been fixed. Also, a bug was fixed that could potentially cause VidConvert to convert a video to the wrong directory. So this is primarily a bug-fix release and all users are encouraged to update to Version 1.0.6 by using the Updater or by visiting the Try page on my site. At the latest Apple Developer Conference (WWDC) there was some exciting news about where the future of computing is taking us. Specifically on the Mac side we have Lion to look forward to due July 2011. So to update you where AppDelete and VidConvert stand today the site is being updated to say Lion Ready. This means that as of the current versions (AppDelete Version 3.1.6 or later and VidConvert 1.0.5 or later) both apps are Lion compatible with the current Developer build of Lion. When Lion becomes official the site will be updated to say Lion compatible. So in short, both apps are ready to go! Today VidConvert Version 1.0.5 is being released. Version 1.0.5 fixes a bug when converting from surround sound to stereo, fixes a bug where the Same folder as source setting might not be remembered, adds input support for .vro files, along with other miscellaneous fixes. It is a recommended update for all users. So update your current copy or grab a new copy today!

AppDelete Version 3.1.6

Today I am releasing another update to AppDelete...Version 3.1.6. I had a few reports where AppDelete did not activate in certain situations and I was able to track down a bug and now it's fixed! There is also a few other minor fixes included. AppDelete Version 3.1.6 is a recommended update for all users. I am also working on a bigger AppDelete update which will take us into Lion and beyond. For those that are interested yes AppDelete is currently compatible with Lion, but again there is more in store for AppDelete and this is more of a minor update to address the bug that was found. VidConvert Version 1.0.4

A new version of VidConvert has just been released! It's Version 1.0.4 and here are the changes: Added Passthrough option in Advanced panel, added Same as Source folder output option, files with duplicate names will now add a suffix instead of overwriting, added a menubar shortcut to delete files in list, improvements to Info panel reporting, along with miscellaneous bug fixes and optimizations. This is a recommended update for all users and you can download a copy from the Try page or just use the built-in updater. Regarding the future of VidConvert I am close to finishing up a few more major improvements and feature upgrades, and a Version 1.1 is not too far off. Also, for those interested in compatibility with the upcoming Lion OS release at this time VidConvert is basically compatible as is. However, at some point (most likely with the Version 1.1 release) I will declare VidConvert Lion ready. In short, you have nothing to worry about! Today I am making another update to VidConvert available and it's Version 1.0.3. Here is a list of changes: Additional improvements made to the various presets, added new iPhone/iPod Retina display preset, new Windows Media preset, new Flash Video preset, new .aiff and .wma audio presets, and added new preference that allows VidConvert to remember last conversion settings used. Also, fixed a potential display bug in the time remaining field, made some minor adjustments to the Advanced panel, and other miscellaneous improvements. I appreciate all the feedback I've been receiving regarding VidConvert and I can see it gaining popularity little by little. I was able to squeeze a few new formats into this release but there is still a number of things in work that will not show up until future releases. So keep the feedback and feature requests coming and if I can answer any questions just let me know. Thank you!

VidConvert Version 1.0.2

Today I am releasing another update to VidConvert and it's Version 1.0.2. There has been a lot of work going into VidConvert and Version 1.0.2 brings a number of overall improvements. So here's a list of changes: Further all-around conversion improvements and adjustments to the various presets, new Debug preference for troubleshooting, new input support for .vdr and .evo files, now accepts drag and drop of conversion engine and warns if the current one is outdated, a few additional options in the Advanced panel, minor UI tweaks, and numerous other improvements. And here is a list of specific bug fixes: Fixed bug that could prevent conversion to H.264, fixed possible syncing with iDevices issue, fixed issue where a video could have a black screen, fixed issue where a video could come out upside-down, fixed bug in timer when converting to audio only, fixed potential Info panel crash if some information was missing, and other miscellaneous fixes. So in short all users are requested to update to the latest version! Now for those that have requested certain features I appreciate the feedback. VidConvert will start to include these features in a future Version 1.1 release. So changes and improvements will come at a pretty quick pace. AppDelete Version 3.1.5

Ok so everyone knows I have not forgotten about AppDelete today I am releasing Version 3.1.5. AppDelete Version 3.1.5 is the first AppDelete update this year and contains a few important things. First, to further streamline Trash Monitoring it will no longer activate if only the trashed item was found. There is also now a Save To panel when selecting Archive. And a checkbox bug has been fixed that could cause issues for VoiceOver users. There have also been some edits to the various localizations and a good amount of code cleanup and miscellaneous optimizations were made. There is also a new system for updating/registering which won't really affect old users but will make things much easier for new users. It will follow a similar style like VidConvert which has worked out very well. So this latest update is a recommended update for all users. As always you can update via the built-in updater without problem. There will probably be a few AppDelete updates on the way as various improvements and additional languages are added. VidConvert Version 1.0.1

Today I am releasing an update to my new app VidConvert Version 1.0.1. The response to VidConvert has been very good, but of course after a new app is out it's time to focus on improvements. Version 1.0.1 brings a number of improvements starting with a new conversion engine and all-around conversion improvements. It is more robust in handling various import formats and now can accept Real Media files. General adjustments were made to the presets and additional options were enabled in the Advanced panel. The trial sample length was also extended. Various bug fixes were made including the crop settings, Quicklook icons, file association, and updater, as well as numerous other fixes and improvements. This latest version is a recommended update for all users and you can download a copy from the Try page or use the updater. And a note about the updater...it is possible some users will experience an error when updating due to a bug that was fixed in Version 1.0.1. If this happens simply update from the Try page. This has also been fixed so that future updates will not be an issue. Well this is the big news of the day, there are a few more things to talk about and once VidConvert Version 1.0.1 has hit all the channels I'll post another update here. Thank you!

App Store and final words for now

I just wanted to address again the new Mac App Store as it gains popularity and my work. At the moment neither AppDelete or VidConvert is in the App Store. Ok VidConvert has just been released and I didn't want to delay in getting it out to the public so you should expect to see it in the App Store in the near future. AppDelete has unfortunately been rejected and that's because it asks for a password if needed. This is against the rules in the App Store so you will find that many of your favorite apps might not be in the App Store for this or various other reasons. My guess is that Apple will relax the rules over time to allow some of these apps in as there is a void right now due to the various rules. But I am working hard to get AppDelete in and I will give further updates as soon as they are available (at this time I have appealed the rejection). Lastly for now a few words about the future...I have rebranded a few things using my name as I work on other projects so I am better prepared to "branch out" as needed. Of course AppDelete is and will always be a major part of my work and just in case someone has not noticed...You still need an Uninstaller even with the App Store! So with AppDelete and now VidConvert and any future projects I'm keeping busy in my part of the world to release useful and practical apps for the Apple community.
